PRODUCTION
Feeding the world in a sustainable way is one of our most pressing challenges in the coming decades. Meat plays a pivotal role in this. Global meat consumption has increased rapidly over the past 50 years – It has been estimated that global meat consumption may double from 2000 to 2050.

EMISSION
Compared to the other food, the production of meat has large environmental impacts, among which, the most severe one is increasing greenhouse gas emissions.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Meat takes much more grain, land and water to fatten an animal to produce a pound of meat than it does to grow the same number of calories in the form of grain that is eaten directly.

Design phase: 5 weeks
Individual work
Toolkit: Rhino3d, Enscape, Adobe Suites
How might we...
When we talk about apartment design:
-
How might we make a step forward to see beyond the housing design itself?
-
How might we design an apartment/ community that provides a holistic living service for a healthier lifestyle?
-
How might we better involve tenants in the sustainable building life cycle?

Solution
Hyperliving Service proposes a holistic apartment service rather than mere housing design. The service envisions a foreseeable future, provides customized, human-centered, healthy way of living.
Core Feature
-
Workshop: Constant Input and Feedback
The community will constantly hold workshops for tenants, centered on the concept of a "healthier lifestyle". Multiple workshops assist tenants better design their own living space, track their carbon footprint, improve life quality...
-
Material: Sustainability and Circularity
Except for the core that is pouring concrete, other major structural components are all from recyclable material. The main structural frame is from steel and the walls and partitions are prefabricated GFRG panels, which is easy- built, recyclable, easy-maintained, and load-bearing when filled with recycled concrete.
-
Housing Typology: Flexible Design and Expansion
What a tenant has bought is a flexible space instead of a final housing product. The service first recommends a generic housing layout based on tenant's primary needs for space, the tenant is then welcomed to customize his or her apartment according to preference and future plans by choosing additional modules from the module library. Whether he or she prefer a larger kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom, the service truly respects the personal demands and provides sufficient flexibility for expansion.
-
Customized Facade Extension: Personalized Micro-Environment
With our service, you can get not only the customized layout but also a customized facade. We provide additional facade components with smart shading, vertical green, and solar panels, which are capable of refining interior thermal comfort and lighting condition and create facade dynamics at the same time.

Shared space: (Open to the apartment tenants)
Shared kitchen, workshop, reading room, exhibition, green space. Distributed within each Living Unit.
Shared programs: (Open to the public)
