PRODUCTION
Feeding the world in a sustainable way is one of our most pressing challenges in the coming decades. Meat plays a pivotal role in this. Global meat consumption has increased rapidly over the past 50 years – It has been estimated that global meat consumption may double from 2000 to 2050.
YOUR CHOICE
Do you know how many green house gases went into your plate?
EMISSION
Compared to the other food, the production of meat has large environmental impacts, among which, the most severe one is increasing greenhouse gas emissions.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Meat takes much more grain, land and water to fatten an animal to produce a pound of meat than it does to grow the same number of calories in the form of grain that is eaten directly.
Everyone's diet matters to our planet.

BOUNCING
A lively street light installation with
interactive glowing sparkles
@Beijing Solana life shopping center, 2020
Design phase: 6 weeks
Implementation: 3 weeks
Role: Project manager, lead designer, prototyper
Toolkit: SolidWorks, Arduino, C#, Neopixels, Axure
Bouncing's Goal
As an outdoor interactive installation, Bouncing is located in the square of Beijing Solana life shopping center, where retail stores, bars, restaurants... attract more than ten million consumers annually.
-
We vision to deliver a high-quality product that will be exposed to the daily changing weather
( longer life span )
-
It should stand out on the square that is already brightly lit by the surrounded business
-
It should be easy to disassemble, ship, and maintain (lower operation costs)
My Role
I was responsible for managing the project, designing, and prototyping. Product was fueled by my fast concept iterations, optimized design workflow, and quick prototyping. I worked closely with the researchers, designers, engineers, and stakeholders.

Kickoff
Before we kick off this public project, we asked several questions:
Compared to indoor interactive installation, what constraints and concerns do we have?
1. How might we choose cost-effective materials with a high windproof and dustproof level?
2. How might we design and fit the electrical circuits to ensure a longer life cycle?
3. How might we prevent the public property damage act?

Key Design Solution
Life-imitating lighting sparkles:
Most of the surrounding lightings are static and monochromatic, so we proposed a ' chasing game' of the user's motion and light spot, which ensures the consistent moving of the light.
Cost-effective material:
After 2-week material and manufactory research,
we decided that the main body of the light tubes is made of :
Laser Aurora AB Effect Reflective Mirror Paper
PMMA tube (thickness: 400mm)
Galvanized tube
Steel pipe

User Flow

Key Management Solution
Customized flow diagram for different teams:
To ensure quick prototyping and effective iteration, centered around user flow, engineers' scripts are organized according to features that designers would test and iterate back and forth.
e.g. The ends highlighted in faint red are where designers test various choices and engineers should set as chunks of variables that are easy to manipulate in their scripts.
