PRODUCTION
Feeding the world in a sustainable way is one of our most pressing challenges in the coming decades. Meat plays a pivotal role in this. Global meat consumption has increased rapidly over the past 50 years – It has been estimated that global meat consumption may double from 2000 to 2050.
YOUR CHOICE

EMISSION
Compared to the other food, the production of meat has large environmental impacts, among which, the most severe one is increasing greenhouse gas emissions.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Meat takes much more grain, land and water to fatten an animal to produce a pound of meat than it does to grow the same number of calories in the form of grain that is eaten directly.
Everyone's diet matters to our planet.

Currently, the earth’s temperature is rising, glaciers are retreating, bushes are on fire, sea levels are rising and the ocean is acidifying at unprecedented rates. This is a result of human activity and if not controlled will lead to undoable harm.
The meat industry has a huge effect on the environment through multiple channels including but not limited to the amount of energy and water the industry uses, and the amount of greenhouse gas the industry produces. Large in greenhouse gas emission and low in energy efficiency, meat is considered one of the prime factors contributing to the current sixth mass extinction. Through the website, we hope to bring to light the meat industry’s huge carbon footprint through our unique and informative data visualizations.
